Yesterday John McCain appeared in Dayton, OH for the first time with his running mate, Sarah Palin. She is the current Governor of Alaska, and got into politics when she was elected mayor of her hometown after serving on the PTA and city council. She is a mother of 5! Her youngest child was just born in April.
Here are a couple of articles about her.

Today we had an outing to the Science Spectrum with our friends Teresa and Cadence. Here are the girls playing with a sand pendulum thing. Giant bubbles.....................
Lola checking out the giant dinosaur.
Lola learning about water!
We also saw a reptile show with a lizard, a tortoise, and a snake. There is so much to see and learn about, even for little kids.

Precious Boy
Deacon is such a HAPPY baby! Most of the time he is laughing, smiling, babbling, kicking his legs, or grabbing his toes, which is his new favorite hobby. He is so sweet, I wish he could stay the way he is right now. Hope you enjoy these pictures.

Nobody Home
These are some thoughts that have been on my mind lately.
When you have divorced parents, no matter how old you are, it is hard to get used to. Even when years have gone by. You have to learn to look at your parents as real people who have been affected by life. You have to move on with your own life. You have to accept that you don't have the fairy-tale of going home to the place that was home when you were a child. I feel like home is gone. The house is sold, everything is gone or in boxes, and my parents have new lives. When remembering your childhood is uncomfortable for your parents, it can cause uncertainty.
I don't know how to fix this. One thing both my parents always said is that you can't change another person. The only thing I know to do is to work my hardest and trust God to keep my own marriage and family together so that in 20 years my kids are not feeling the way that I am right now.
Here are some of the words to a song by Amy Grant called "Nobody Home." I have heard it a million times, but last night I realized it pinpointed exactly how I felt about the first 20 years or so of my own life.
"Main street U.S.A
boarded up and dry
Knowin' what once was here just makes me wanna cry
Used to be the favorite place
Now what remains are memories even time cannot erase
Packed up, moved away,
runnin' from the past
Leaving behind the dusty dreams and broken glass
Used to be a busy town
Now, everybody passes through, but they don't stick around
Where we used to belong
There ain't nobody home
You can knock all you want
But, ain't nobody home
Knock all you want,
there ain't nobody home."

Happy Birthday, Ella!
Lola's best friend from preschool, Ella, turned 3 this weekend.
It was a "diego" themed party, hence the safari hats.
Happy Birthday Ella!

Aunt Gay's Beautiful Kitty
Olivia had a new home as of last Friday. Apparantly she is doing very well at Aunt Gay's house. She gets much more personal attention than she did here. Thank you Aunt Gay, for taking her in! It is nice for her to be with someone we know so that we can see her from time to time.

Deacon is 4 Months!
Deacon turned 4 months on the first! He has met his 4 month developmental milestones, 2 of which are rolling over and putting things in his mouth. He belives that anything within his reach should go in his mouth! He also tucked his knees up under him the other day and tried to scoot. He is also babbling, laughing, and he recognizes his mom, dad, and sister!
Sweet double-dimpled grin.
Yesterday was his 4 month checkup. He is a little fussy today after his shots, but overall still happy and smiling. He weighed 18 lbs. 4 oz and is 26 3/4 inches long! (That's 95th percentile for height and weight.) Deacon is such a good baby, I could not have asked God for a better one.
