Bath Time!!!!!

Deacon's baby tub has gotten too small for him. So, we got the little bath seat out and tried him in it last night. I asked Lola if she wanted to take a bath with her brother, and she was SO excited. Then, when we got into the bathroom and I was putting Deacon in the tub, she said, "mom, make sure he doesn't go potty in the bath."

Ok Lola, I'll get right on that. :)

In case you are wondering what all that grunge is in between the tiles, it's BATH CRAYON - beware, it's not really that washable!

Hope you enjoy the video.

Playing Outside

Recently when we had a free afternoon and the weather was nice, the kids and I played outside. Lola stood in the middle of the front yard for the first few minutes and kept yelling, "I go to school....school.......school......school......" - finally she told me, "Mom, I made an echo!" She is so funny. Enjoy the pics.

Lola and Summer

I am a couple of weeks behind on this-but anyways, 2 weeks ago when Summer and Cory were here, they babysat so we could go to a movie.

Lola got to play with play-doh!

Then they played with shaving cream!!!
She had a really good time.
One of the best parts was that Lola was SOOO happy when we got home, and there was no mess. All the play-doh and shaving cream was cleaned up, because Summer is all neat and clean like that.
Summer and Cory: We really appreciate that you guys stayed with us while you were here. We had a great time! Thanks for treating our kids like your own! Come back soon.

Six Month Stats & First Veggies

Deacon's checkup was Tuesday. He weighs 20 pounds, 4 ounces, and is 27 1/2 inches long. He is 80-85th percentile for height, weight, and head circumference. He is still doing well on his developmental milestones, two of which are supported sitting and grasping.

I love this picture! It was right after one of his first bites of zucchini. (He liked it better the next 2 nights.)

We went prepared for both kids to get a flu shot, but luckily they had the "flu mist" for kids 3 and over. I had been telling Lola that she was going to have to get a shot, and she was very anxious about it. So it was SO wonderful that they had the inhaled vaccine instead. The only side effect is runny nose, which she hasn't had.
Deacon ran a little bit of fever, but he is over it now. He was really happy tonight, in fact, he JUST NOW fell asleep, and it is past 12:30am.
We are making his babyfood ourselves, and so far he has had zucchini, and tonight he started carrots. Dean actually blended most of it and put it into jars for me while I was working. He's pretty handy. :)
I am working a little extra this week, so I am pretty tired. Some days the kids just don't nap at the same time, so I have to survive on my 4-5 hours of sleep after I work. But it is good because then I get individual time with each of them.

This is Lola's choice of clothing most days now-one of her princess costumes. She also has a party for her imaginary sister, Ashley, every night. :) I think she didn't want to eat her soup in this picture, it's really not that good, I just didn't have another one on hand with her in her princess dress.

Enjoy the pictures!

Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree with Anyone Else But Me!

We made a trip to the Apple Orchard to celebrate our anniversary, and for something fun for Lola to do. Our friends Summer and Cory and Cory's parents, Chuck and Jan were in town this weekend and they joined us. It was really fun!

Lola thinking about picking some apples.

Lola and I.

Dean and Lola doing some picking.

She was trying soooo hard.............
Deacon looking cute."Hmmm I could eat some of this dirt..."
And now, for the cutest pictures of all time.............

Aren't they so adorable in their fall getup? It looks like they are having a real conversation!
Summer and Cory babysat for us last night so we could go to a movie. I have more to post about Summer and Lola's good times - Look for it soon.

Four More Years!!!!!!!

I met Dean at church camp in June 1997. We were good friends until October 1998 when we started dating. We were "on and off" a lot, especially through our college years!
We were married October 2, 2004 at the Apple Orchard in Idalou. It was a crisp fall day and the sun began to set during the ceremony behind the gazebo that you see below. I will never forget the colors of fall, the flowers, music, and all the people that we loved who were there with us. I will never forget how lucky I felt to FINALLY be marrying the person that I knew I was supposed to marry for years before.
These four years have not been short on trying times for us, but they have also been the happiest and most rewarding of my life.
I love my husband for many reasons: he is hilarious, he has gorgeous red hair and freckles, he is smart, he is hardworking, he loves our kids, he is fun to be with, he is witty, and he has given me a wonderful life.
Here are some pictures from the last four years, not necessarily in chronological order, but I tried.... Enjoy!

A Very Merry Half-Birthday.......

Deacon turned 6 months on the 1st. It is so hard to believe that he is halfway to turning One!
The last 2 weeks he has been sitting up. He has gotten progressively stronger and no longer needs support. He is also able to lean over and grab whatever toys are around him.

They always go right to his mouth! Still waiting on those 2 top teeth!
Reaching for his tractor- one of his favorite toys.

Showing off!

You can sort of see his 2 bottom teeth here.

He fell asleep sitting up on the couch the other night. It was so funny!
A true man - master of the remote!
He is also trying to scoot - he doesn't get very far, but he will lay down from sitting, turn in a circle, and try to use his head to move himself. I think he will be crawling very soon!
We go to the doctor next Tuesday for his 6 month checkup. He is still VERY sweet, of course. When we go to drop of Lola and pick her up from school, he starts smiling as soon as we see all the kids in the hallways. The teachers and other parents always say, "Look at that baby! He is so happy!" He loves his sister so much - he will hear her voice in another room and look around for her, and then smile and laugh and reach for her when she comes into the room. We love him so much.
